In 1996 the Island of Elba became part of the National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago which embraces the islands of Elba, Giglio, Montecristo, Capraia, Pianosa, Giannutri and Gorgona and a big part of the surrounding sea. In fact it is the biggest sea park of Europe! The crystal water of Elba invite snorkelling and diving to admire the sea flora and fauna.
There are many diving centers in Marina di Campo, who offer besides guided diving tours and international scuba diving courses all the diving equipment for rent.
The indented coastline of Marina di Campo invites nevertheless everybody for snorkelling in the limpid and warm sea water.
If you want to enjoy the sea in another way, you can join the sailing school or have fun with a rented windsurf. On the beach of Marina di Campo you will find several rents of boats, rubber dinghis, kajak, pedal boats etc. It's possible to have a guided kajak tour around the island.
Whoever prefers hiking will find a network of well signed paths/tracks on the whole territory of Elba. The two little hill towns of Sant'Ilario and San Piero, which are situated at the back of Marina di Campo, are the ideal starting point for a mountain hike in the granite massif of the Monte Capanne (1018m). The hiker will be rewarded by a spectacular view on Corsica and the other islands of the Archipel ago from the top of the hills. And in the months of April and May, when the Mediterrean macchia is in bloom, the whole island is covered by a carpet of colours.
Even the mountain bikers will find suitable and well signed paths. In Marina di Campo there are several rents for mountain bikes, mopeds and cars.
A particular attraction are the organized excursions to Pianosa Island, starting from the little harbour of Marina di Campo. The island accomodated for more than 100 years one of the biggest prisons of Italy. In 1998 the prison was closed and the island became no-mans-land. Today it's possible to visit it by foot, by bike, by bus or in kajak under the control of a park guide.
Night clubs, restaurants and other entertainments
Marina di Campo has at it's disposal a lot of restaurants, where you may taste the typical dishes of fish or fruits of the earth. Downtown there are numerous Pizzerias and Gelaterias.
Whoever wants some night entertainment can choice between a discotheque, a piano bar and some other meeting-place or night club, all situated in the surroundings of Marina di Campo (max. 3 km).
Interesting is the visit of the aquarium, one of the biggest in Italy for it's variety of Mediterranean species. It's situated 2 km from Marina di Campo.
And our smallest guests will have fun with the amusementpark 'Saltinpark' in the pinewood in front of our apartments Villa Fantagalì. There are a lot of inflatable games and elastic mats.

Elba is not only made of beaches and sun, but also by history and culture. Therefore we suggest You to visit in Portoferraio the two Villas of napoleon and the Fortezza on the old harbour.
Portoazzurro, about 20 min driving from Portoferraio, offers the visit of the village and the Mineral Park.
