The ancient Tuscan village of Nozzano Castello is on the famous medieval road, the via Francigena, 7km from Lucca and 15km from Pisa. Its castellated tower rises proudly above the plains of the river Serchio, and played an important role in the defence of Lucca during the wars against Pisa.
The gracious Villa del Castello is the oldest building inside the historic town walls of Nozzano Castello, and brings to life 700 years of history. The Villa was built on the first circle of walls constructed in 1300, and backs on to the original rock face. It was lovingly and tastefully restored by the Dalli family in 1843, and the di Biase family in 2003, and contains much astonishing evidence as to its historic and noble past.
Inside we have some apartments which, thanks to their original furnishings - all dwellings, will allow you to dream and fantasise on distant times.
The dwelling "of the rocks" (2 + 1 ½ beds), unique in its genre for singularity and spectacularity, can accommodate two adults and one or two children, and is made of an entrance at the ground floor with kitchenette and pull-down sofa and a double room on the first floor. The dwelling "Of the ancient walls" (3 + 2 + 1 ½ beds) accommodates up to seven people, and is made of a bedroom for three, underground escape passage with iron grates, room with fireplace, table, chairs and benches for refreshments, mezzanine floor with old double bed, pull-down sofa under the mezzanine floor; access room with sofas and TV, CD-Player, marble bathroom with shower. Villa del Castello can comfortably accommodate up to 20 guests.
